Law of Assumption vs Law of Attraction: 5 surprising differences

Like most, I learned about the Law of assumption after first hearing about the Law of attraction. You might be wondering about law of assumevption vs law of attraction. The Law of assumption can be easier to understand and follow when it comes to manifesting your desires.

In this article, I want to share the differences between the Law of attraction and the Law of assumption and help you choose a method to manifest your desires.

The Law of assumption is better than the Law of attraction because it is easier to follow and understand. Even though Law of attraction is more popular, Law of assumption can help you manifest your desires faster. Law of assumption was popularized by Neville Goddard, while Law of attraction came into popularity after The Secret book and movie.

Suppose you have heard about Law of attraction before and only recently heard about Law of assumption. In that case, you might be wondering what the differences are between Law of attraction and Law of assumption.

Main differences between Law of assumption vs Law of attraction

While both Law of assumption and Law of attraction are techniques to manifest your desires, both have different approaches to manifestation.

1. Manifestation comes from different sources

This is perhaps the most significant difference between Law of assumption and Law of attraction.

According to the Law of attraction, when you’re aligned to your desire, the universe or the source grants the desire to you.

According to the Law of assumption, God is imagination, and your imagination grants the wish. You imagine and feel the end of your desire as real to manifest with the Law of assumption.

2. Manifestation method

There is also a difference in how you manifest the desire. With the Law of attraction, you do the work to reach the vibrational frequency of the desire. For example, if you want to manifest money, you work on your negative beliefs about money and feel great about the money coming your way.

With the Law of assumption, you assume the desire is already real and feel the state of the wish fulfilled. It is the state that manifests. For example, if you want to manifest a job, imagine a scene where you’re shaking hands with your friend congratulating you on your success.

In your imagination, touch and feel your friend’s hand and feel the scene as real. One of the popular techniques is SATS by Neville Goddard.

3. Signs manifestation is coming

With the Law of attraction, there are ways to look for signs to know if the manifestation is working for you. These signs are based on the experiences of other people. For example, you see patterns in your life or small successes.

With the Law of assumption, you don’t need to look for signs. Neville Goddard said signs don’t precede; they follow. Once you reach the state of the wish fulfilled, you’ve done your work.

Neville did share the ladder technique to test the Law of assumption ourselves.

4. Existence of free will

In the Law of assumption, no one has free will, and creation is finished. Another way to look at it is that all realities exist. All you have to do is to choose the reality that you want. Everyone in your life acts according to the assumption you have of them.

Neville Goddard states that everyone is you pushed out. Everyone you encounter in your life and how you see them is determined by yourself. Put another way, if you want to change someone, change the assumption of them within you.

In the Law of attraction, you have free will. And you need to use your free will to attract your desires into your life. Similarly, others have free will to attract what they want. Since the universe grants the manifestation and we’re all in it, your free will doesn’t affect another.

5. Testing for yourself vs. believing it works

Neville Goddard tells us to test the Law of assumption ourselves. Because the core assumption is that God is your imagination, Neville asks us to test the power ourselves.

The Law of attraction states that it’s a law of the universe that like attracts like. Testing for yourself is not required as it’s a law.

Neville Goddard also shared the ladder technique to test the law of assumption yourself.

Keep in mind that the Law of assumption also states that it’s a law and that what you assume becomes your reality. However, you might find it easier to accept because you’re encouraged to test it yourself.

Is Law of attraction the same as Law of assumption?

No, Law of assumption and Law of attraction both allow you to manifest your desire. But both of them go about it in different ways. They are slightly different methods to manifest your desire.

With Law of attraction, you’re expected to reach a state of receiving. With Law of assumption, you reach a state of already having your desire.

Is Law of assumption better than Law of attraction?

Law of assumption is easier to follow than Law of attraction, especially if you’ve already tried the Law of attraction without results.

When you experience Law of assumption by granting yourself the desire by using your imagination, it feels powerful.

All techniques essentially work by changing yourself and your inner state. So go with the technique that works for you.
